CalmCore

A nervous system coaching app by Dr Naomi Murphy

CalmCore is a nervous system regulation and interoceptive awareness coaching app, created by Dr Naomi Murphy. It brings trauma-informed, body-based tools to anyone who wants to quieten their nervous system, understand their body’s signals and live with greater presence and authenticity.

Calm your mind. Connect with yourself.

Calming your nervous system isn’t about forcing yourself to relax or thinking your way out of distress. It begins with learning to notice what is happening inside you, making sense of your body’s signals and responding with enough safety and compassion to create real change.

CalmCore guides you through that process a few minutes at a time, with practices that adapt to your stress levels, your goals and your schedule.

What is interoception?

Interoception is the ability to detect what is happening inside your body, such as tension or your heart rate. It is how you know you are tense, tired, hungry or overwhelmed, often before you have put a name to it. CalmCore helps you build this awareness step by step, so you can respond to your own needs with more clarity.

What you can do in CalmCore

  • Soothe your nervous system. Follow guided breathwork, grounding and relaxation practices that help you relax, reduce stress and restore balance.
  • Strengthen body awareness. Use body scans and mindful check-ins to notice, release and reset physical tension.
  • Follow a plan built around you. Complete a short onboarding quiz and receive a personalised plan that adapts as you progress.
  • Learn from short, practical lessons. Explore the science of the nervous system and somatic tools in concise, actionable sessions.
  • Reflect and journal. Use daily prompts to explore your feelings and values and to support genuine self-expression.
  • Track your progress. Complete regular check-ins and self-assessments, and watch your awareness grow over time.
  • Ask your AI coach. Get support and adjustments whenever you need them, including when you only have five minutes.
  • Keep going gently. Set reminders and see your streaks, so regular practice becomes a habit rather than a chore.

How it works

1.

Take the onboarding quiz. Share your current habits, stress levels and goals so CalmCore can personalise your journey.

2.

Get your personalised plan. Receive a roadmap of calming practices and interoceptive exercises that fit your life.

3.

Follow your daily practices. Each day brings a few short activities, such as grounding, breathwork, a body scan and a reflection.

4.

Track your progress. See how your sense of calm and awareness develops over time.

Created by Dr Naomi Murphy

“After 20 years working with complex trauma in high-secure prisons, I know nervous system safety is the foundation for real change.”

Dr Naomi Murphy

Dr Naomi Murphy is a Consultant Clinical and Forensic Psychologist and an accredited Sensorimotor Psychotherapy practitioner, with almost 30 years’ experience developing trauma-focused treatment. For 20 years she worked in a high-secure prison in England, where she developed and ran a trauma-focused treatment programme for men who had been considered “untreatable” because of their psychopathy.

That work showed her how deeply trauma can shape the body, the nervous system and a person’s capacity to feel safe, connected and authentic. She created CalmCore to bring the same trauma-informed, body-based approach to people who want to quieten their nervous system and strengthen their awareness of what their body is telling them.
